Most things you've heard about Bitcoin are probably not true. Governments have an incentive to keep your savings in their currency (see What's The Problem?). If these things surprise you, it's time to learn more:

Bitcoin is not the same as crypto

All other crypto-currencies have a person or organisation controlling them, and are always set up to benefit those people, usually at the expense of everyone else - contrast that with Bitcoin where no-one is in charge, and everyone benefits. It is crypto that is "a scam". Bitcoin is the most honest money that has ever existed.

It can help reduce emissions

Bitcoin mining can be used to burn off methane emitted from oil/gas drilling or waste landfills, and incentivizes the build out of renewables - it doesn't "use too much energy" - it uses much less than the financial and gold mining industries which it could replace.

Bitcoin is an invaluable Human Rights tool

Bitcoin is a potential life line to billions of people living under tyranny or unable to use banks. It's already been used by 100,000s of refugees to take their family's wealth out of war zones, and to fund dissident organisations fighting violent dictators. It's not just "used by criminals".

You're not too late to buy bitcoin

Bitcoin will always get more valuable against government currencies over the longer term - and you can save amounts less than $1 (or whatever your currency is), whatever the price of bitcoin. And it will carry up going up in fiat currency price forever.

Bitcoin is the most secure way of holding your wealth

It can't be taken from you, you can use it in any country in the world, and there are no costs to hold it. Bitcoin is not "useless" or "backed by nothing". It reached a value of $1 trillion faster than any asset in history for a reason. It's worth your time to find out why.
